Once opens TCT 53rd Season

Tupelo Community Theatre presents its 53rd season opening production,   Once, August 25-27 at 7:30 pm and on the 27th at 2 pm at the Lyric Theatre in downtown Tupelo. 

From the very first note, Once draws you in and never let’s go. This emotionally captivating musical tells the story of a guy who gives up on love and music and the girl who inspires him to dream again. The show is the only one to have won an Academy Award, Grammy Award, Olivier Award and  the Tony Award for Best Musical. 

Tickets are available to TCT wildcard members on August 8th and to the public on the 15th.  Adults tickets are $30 and students $10, the show is PG13, and may be reserved by calling 662-844-1935. 

Auditions for Once

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Once, book by Enda Walsh with music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, on June 15 and 16 at 6 p.m. at TCT Off Broadway, 213 East Franklin Street.  Once, the TCT 2022-23 season opening show, received eleven Tony Award nominations, winning eight including Best Musical.

From the very first note, Once draws you in and never lets go. This emotionally captivating musical is the only show to have music that won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, an Olivier Award and a Tony Award.  On the streets of Dublin, an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant are drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, an unexpected friendship and collaboration quickly evolves into a powerful but complicated love story, underscored by emotionally charged music. 

Those auditioning should be adults aged 21 or older and everyone must sing.  Some characters also play instruments.  The cast includes an 8-10 year old girl.
