Little Shop of HorrorsOctober 22-24, 2020
Music by Alan Menken; Lyrics & Book by Howard Ashman
This classic horror comedy rock musical opens our 51st season. The story follows a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 dark comedy film. The music, in the style of early 1960s rock & roll and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song and “Suddenly, Seymour.” Little Shop of Horrors provides a perfect musical prelude to TCT’s annual Haunted Theatre in October!

The winter blues can’t catch you if you’re at TCT watching a comedy so timeless that TCT is staging it for the third time. Even if you haven’t seen the movie or you didn’t catch it at TCT in 1974 or in 1987, you’re going to love this hilarious farce! Follow Mortimer Brewster as he visits his sweet spinster aunts to announce his engagement. His world is turned upside down when he realizes that his dear aunts have been poisoning lonely old men for years! Mortimer must rally to help his aunts and protect his fiancé – all while trying to keep his own sanity.

Crimes of the HeartTo be announced soon
By Beth Henley
First staged at TCT in 1988, Crimes of the Heart is a family drama set in Mississippi that certainly withstands the test of time. It tells the story of the three Magrath sisters, Meg, Babe, and Lenny, who reunite at Old Granddaddy’s home in Hazelhurst after Babe shoots her abusive husband. Past resentments bubble to the surface as the sisters are forced to deal with assorted relatives and past relationships while coping with Babe’s
latest incident. Each sister is forced to face the consequences of the “crimes of the heart” she has committed.

Something Rotten! • To be announced soon.

Music & Lyrics by Karey & Wayne Kirkpatrick; Book by John O’Farrell & Karey Kirkpatrick
Close out TCT’s brilliant 51st season with a musical comedy fresh from Broadway. So fresh, in fact, that TCT will be the first theatre to stage this blockbuster hit in Mississippi. Set in 1595, the story follows the Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel, who struggle to find success in the theatrical world. They must compete with the wild popularity of their contemporary William Shakespeare, who bears an uncanny resemblance to a local 1950s rock and roll legend. Full of slapstick humor and double entendres, this delightful romp just might change the way you view classic literature!
