Moonlight and Magnolias: a behind-the-scenes tale

Selznick when his production of Gone with the Wind is in deep trouble. George Cukor has been fired as director and the umpteenth draft of a script has proven to be unworkable. Selznick has suspended shooting while he figures out what to do next. He meets with screenwriter Ben Hecht to offer him $15,000 for a complete rewrite of\n\nSidney Howard’s screenplay. However, Hecht hasn’t read the novel, isn’t impressed with Selznick’s synopsis of it and thinks the movie is bound to be a turkey. Selznick pulls director Victor Fleming off the soon-to-wrap Wizard of Oz and sequesters them and himself in his office, with bananas and peanuts as their only sustenance, to knock out a workable screenplay by the end of the week.
Auditions: Miracle on 34th Street
Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Valentine Davies’ classic holiday fantasy Miracle on 34th Street on October 1 and 2at the Lyric Theatre. Auditions for children are at 6p.m. and for adults at 7p.m. The play calls for a large cast of actors including children ages 7 to 10, best cialis ampoule women 25 and older, illness advice and men 16 and older. Auditions: 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for the Tony award winning musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on October 8 at 6p.m. at the Lyric Theatre. The musical tells the story of six young people in the throes of puberty, malady treat site overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. The cast includes roles for 5 men and 4 women at least college age or older. Those auditioning should bring music for a prepared Broadway style song. An accompanist will be provided.
