Music, Monet and Margaritas

The Lyric Krewe, Tupelo Community Theatre’s support organization, will present their 15th Annual Street Fiesta, Music, Monet, and Margaritas, on June 2nd from 7:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. The event will be on Broadway in front of the Lyric and will include music by the Jam Band and a silent auction of local artist’s work. Tickets are $25 and include food provided by Outback steakhouse and your first drink TCT also needs volunteers to help with set-up, gate, bar, food, or clean up, Work for two hours and enjoy the event on us! Disney’s The Lion King JR

Tupelo Community Theatre will present its summer youth production of Disney’s The Lion King JR, with music and lyrics by Elton John and Tim Rice, June 21st and 22nd at 7:30 p.m. and 23rd at 2 p. m. at the Lyric Theatre in downtown Tupelo. Based on the Broadway production the show has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world and now, for the first time ever, TCT has the opportunity to produce this one-of-a-kind musical. The African savannah comes to life on stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle… and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale. Angel Street

Tupelo Community Theatre will present the drama Angel Street at TCT Off Broadway, 213 East Franklin Street, June 14th, 15th and 16th at 7:30 p.m. A Broadway hit first produced on the West End under the title Gaslight and filmed twice, Angel Street tells the story of the Manninghams, who live on Angel Street in 19th century London. Patrick Hamilton, the author, has built and sustained some of the most brilliant, suspenseful sequences in modern theatre. “I have just seen the theatre really come alive for the first time this season. One of the most satisfying theatre adventures of the last decade.” – New York News. Auditions for Angel Street

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Angel Street by Patrick Hamilton on April 9 and 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the rehearsal hall of the Lyric Theatre. Angel Street tells the story of the Manninghams, who live on Angel Street in 19th century London. As the curtain rises, all appears to be the essence of Victorian tranquility but their lives are not what they seem. The show calls for 2 men who are 30 and older and 3 women who are 20 and older. No advance preparation is needed but a copy of the script may be checked out. A British accent is preferred. Debby Gibbs will direct and production dates are June 14-16 at TCT Off Broadway. Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for its summer youth production of Disney’s The Lion King JR. at the Lyric Theatre on April 30 at 6:30 for third grade through fifth and May 1 at 6:30 p.m. from sixth through ninth grade. Everyone will be required to sing and read from the script but no advance preparation is needed. Disney’s The Lion King brings the African savannah to life on stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle… and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale. Auditions for Broadway Beat

TCT Off Broadway will hold auditions for Broadway Beat on February 26 and 27 at 5:30 p.m. at 213 East Franklin Street.

The show includes musical highlights from over a century of song and dance including Hairspray, The Music Man, The King and I, Wicked, Rent and Grease, and a medley of favorites from George M. Cohan! No advanced preparation is needed but students should be 4th grade through high school.

The Last Five Years

TCT Off Broadway will present The Last Five Years, music/book/lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, on February 15, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. at 213 East Franklin Street. The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie and Cathy using storytelling in which one of the character’s story is told in reverse order. The characters do not directly interact except in the middle as their timelines intersect. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students and younger and a cash bar will be provided.
