Auditions for Arsenic and Old Lace

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for the classic “Arsenic and Old Lace” on Monday, December 7, 2020, and Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at 6:00 PM at the Lyric Theatre at 201 N. Broadway in Downtown Tupelo. This show is a farcical “dark” comedy about the Brewster family. Mortimer, a drama critic, must deal with his crazy, murderous family and local police in Brooklyn, New York. The cast is composed of 1 female aged 21-35; 2 females aged 55+; and 11 males aged 25+. No advanced preparation is required. Production dates are January 28, 29 and 30, 2021 with rehearsals beginning in mid-December. Auditions for Crimes of the Heart

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for the play Crimes of the Heart, by Beth Henley, December 15 and 16 at 6 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre in downtown Tupelo.  In the Pulitzer Prize-winning dark comedy, three eccentric Southern sisters come together after one shoots her husband, exposing their unique quirks, longings, and regrets as each comes to terms with the consequences of her own “crime of the heart.”

– Lenny – The oldest sister, the one who takes care of everybody and tries to keep the peace, has a deformed ovary.

– Meg – The second sister, flamboyant, wants to be a singer, a heartbreaker.

– Babe – The youngest sister, married older rich man, sweet, pretty naive.

– Barnett – Young eager lawyer, develops a crush on Babe.

– Doc – Longtime native of the town, handicapped leg, has always been in doomed love with Meg.

– Chick – Wealthier cousin & neighbor of the McGrath sisters, nosy, bossy, gossipy, talkative, provides comic relief.
