Auditions for The Odd Couple-Female Version

 Tupelo Community Theatre Off Broadway will hold auditions
for The Odd Couple, Female Version by Neil Simon
on May 20 and 21 at 6:30 p.m. at 213 East Franklin Street.
In Neil Simon’s hilarious contemporary comic classic,
Florence Unger and Olive Madison are at it again. Instead of
the poker party that begins the original version, Ms. Madison
has invited the girls over for an evening of Trivial Pursuit.
The Pidgeon sisters have been replaced by the two Constanzuela
brothers. But the hilarity remains the same.
Roles are available for two men and six women, 25 years
of age and older. No advance preparation is needed.

The True Story of the Three Little Pigs

Tupelo Community Theatre will present the youth production of The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Robert Kauzlaric, Paul Gilvary, and William Rush on May 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and May 18 at 2 p.m. at TCT Off Broadway 213 East Franklin Street. Every story has two sides and when the Big, Bad Wolf takes the stand in Piggsylvania’s Trial of the Century, he finally gets his say. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and younger and may be purchased by calling the TCT box office at 662-844-1935.

Auditions for The True Story of the Three Little Pigs

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Robert Kauzlaric, Paul Gilvary, and William Rush on March 25th and 26th  at 6 p.m. at TCT Off Broadway 213 East Franklin Street.  Every story has two sides and when the Big, Bad Wolf takes the stand in Piggsylvania’s Trial of the Century, he finally gets his say. This youth cast includes anyone 11 to 14 years old and everyone auditioning should be able to sing but no advance preparation required.  Marley Maharrey will direct.  Production dates for the show are May 16-18.  For more information contact the director at [email protected] or call the TCT office at 662-844-1935.

Do you have a child who wants to learn how to be a theatre “techie”? Does he or she ever wonder how shows create neat lighting effects, colorful costumes, and realistic props? If your child is between the ages of 11-14 and wants to learn how to work backstage at a community production, contact [email protected] before March 25th. Please include the following: child’s age, child’s grade, which he/she is interested in (lighting/sound, costumes, or props). Those wanting to work in costumes must have some sewing experience. Children selected will be working with a crew member on the upcoming TCTOB production The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.

Tupelo Community Theatre will present {title of show} with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and book by Hunter Bell on February 14-16 at 7:30 p.m. at TCT Off Broadway 213 East Franklin Street.   The show chronicles its own creation as an entry in the New York Musical Theatre Festival, and follows the struggles of the author and composer/lyricist and their two actress friends during the initial brief (three-week) creative period, along with subsequent events leading up to the show’s production.  The show includes language some patrons may find offensive.  Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students and younger and may be purchased by calling the TCT box office Noon-4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 844-1935.

TCT will hold auditions for {title of show} December 10 and 11 at 6 p.m. at Tupelo Off Broadway, 213 E. Franklin Street. Parts are available for women and men, ages 18 -35 and all actors must be able to sing. The one-act musical, with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and a book by Hunter Bell chronicles the struggles of an author and composer/lyricist and their two actress friends during the creative period, along with subsequent events leading up to the show’s production. The writer and stars of the show, as well as its director, all won Obie Awards for their work on the off-Broadway production, and the author was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical. Production dates are February 14-16, 2019. Those auditioning should bring their own recorded music if singing something other than from {title of show}. If auditioning with a song from the show TCT will have that accompaniment track available. Haley Agnew Johnson and John McCustion will direct.

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf

Tupelo Community Theatre will present Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf by Edward Albee November 15-17 at 7 p.m. at TCT Off Broadway 213 East Franklin. Winner of the 1963 Tony Award for Best Play, the Broadway production of this play was a shattering and memorable experience and proclaimed the author as a major American playwright. The play has been described as a scorching, scalding, revealing and completely engrossing drama and a brilliant piece of writing. The story involves a professor at a small college and his wife who have returned home drunk from a party. The wife announces that she has invited a young couple, an opportunistic new professor at the college and his shatteringly naïve new bride, to stop by and the charade begins when they arrive. The play is R rated for language and discussions some patrons may find offensive. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and may be purchased by calling the TCT office at 844-1935.

Auditions for The Glitter Girls

TCT will hold auditions for The Glitter Girls November 18 at 2:00 pm and November 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Tupelo Off Broadway, 213 E. Franklin Street. Parts are available for seven women and three men, ages 20-70+.

Written by Mississippi native Mark Dunn, this southern comedy takes us through a specially called meeting of a north Georgia social club called “The Glitter Girls.” The club’s richest member, Trudy Tromaine (who is at death’s door) convenes the meeting to express her wishes to bequeath some of her millions to one lucky “Sister of the Gleam and Sparkle.”
