Senior Theatre Troop Organizational Meeting

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold an organizational meeting to form a Senior Theatre Troop for older performers on August 19th at 6 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre in downtown Tupelo.  The purpose of the group is offer theatre experiences to people who may have never acted before, others who have performed and want to do it again and those that now have time to explore the world of theatre.  The group is also open to those that want to direct, design sets/lights/sound/costumes, or work backstage as part of a crew.  The troop may explore acting classes, live theatre viewing, play reading, improvisation, storytelling or theatre productions such as readers theatre, short plays, variety shows, plays from life stories of participants, musical theatre, and topics facing seniors, among others.  For more information or if you are unable to attend on this date email [email protected] or call the TCT office at 662-844-1935. 

Auditions for Becky’s New Car at TCT Off Broadway

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Becky’s New Car, by Steven Dietz, on Monday, August 2nd and Tuesday, August 3rd at 6 pm at TCT Off Broadway. 213 East Franklin Street.  No advance preparation is needed. 

Have you ever been tempted to flee your own life? Becky Foster is caught in middle age, middle management and a middling marriage–nothing is quite wrong, but nothing is quite right either. Then one night a grief-struck millionaire stumbles into her office and Becky is offered nothing short of a new life. The audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun on the hilarious and touching journey down the road not taken. 

The cast is made up of 4 men and 3 women ages  21 and up.  Production dates are September 30, October 1 and 2 and.  Becky Shaffer will direct.

Summer Youth Theatre Godspell Jr

Tupelo Community Theatre will present its Summer Youth Theatre production of Godspell Jr, Book by John Michael Tebelak, Music and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, July 15 and 16 at 7:30 pm and July 17 at 2 pm.  Prepare ye for the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty and love based on the Broadway musical that inspired a generation and based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew.  Ticket are $10 for adults and $5 for students and younger and the show will be performed at TCT Off Broadway. 213 East Franklin Street.  For more Information or to purchase tickets call 662-844-1935. 

Auditions for The Play That Goes Wrong

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for The Play That Goes Wrong, by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, on Wednesday, June 23rd and Thursday, June 24th at 6pm at the Lyric Theatre.  The cast is made up of 8 men and 2 women ages  21 and up.

The Play That Goes Wrong is a hilarious, farcical murder mystery, play-within-a-play, where everything that can go wrong does and the accident-prone thespians battle to make it through to their final curtain call, with hilarious consequences.

TCT Theatre Camp 2021

HOORAY!  TCT THEATER CAMP 2021 IS HAPPENING!! Join us for a new camp experience where student’s personal growth takes centerstage by highlighting their individual interests and talents.  Students will choose an acting and/or musical theater track.  During the week of camp, the students will learn an opening and closing number and will then break out into tracks to work on the preselected music and scenes, cultivating in one amazing variety show on Friday full of new and old favorites! 

Our camp director and theater instructor is Danielle Frerer Ratliff, actor at TCT and music teacher/show choir Director at Tupelo High School.   Our music instructor is Claire Leeke, actor at TCT and music professor at Northeast Community College. TCT’s theater camp for 2021 will be held June 21-25, with two sessions each day. Rising 1st-4th graders will meet each morning. Rising 5th-8th graders will meet in the afternoons. The cost of the camp is only $100 for TCT Season Members and families with more than one sibling attending. Non-member cost is $125. Details will be sent by email.
