Audtions for Puffs
Tupelo Community Theatre will hold an additional audition for men for Puffs by Matt Cox auditions on December 17 at 6 p.m. at TCT Off Broadway 213 East Franklin Street. For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs… who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world. (Puffs is not authorized, sanctioned, licensed or endorsed by J.K Rowling, Warner Bros. or any person or company associated with the Harry Potter books, films or play.) No advance preparation is needed but those auditioning should be at least 21 years of age or older. Marley Maharrey will direct and production dates are February 13-15, 2020. ‘night, Mother
Tupelo Community Theatre will present ‘night, Mother by Marsha Norman, November 21-23 at 7:30 p.m. at TCT Off Broadway 213 East Franklin Street. The 1993 Pulitzer Prize winning play was also nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play. The play is about a daughter, Jessie, and her mother, Thelma. It begins with Jessie calmly telling her Mama that by morning she will be dead, as she plans to commit suicide that very evening. The subsequent dialogue between Jessie and Mama slowly reveals her reasons for her decision, her life with Mama, and how thoroughly she has planned her own death, culminating in a disturbing, yet unavoidable, climax. “Something I hadn’t seen in a long time happened at ‘NIGHT, MOTHER: The audience still sat applauding after the house lights came up, as if waiting for the cast to come round and join them.” —Village Voice. 50th Anniversary of TCT & NMSO
Tupelo Community Theatre, in partnership with the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, will present a concert version of South Pacific in celebration of the 50th anniversaries of TCT and NMSO on March 21, 2020 at the Lyric Theatre.
Additional auditions for South Pacific will be Monday, November 11th and Tuesday, November 12th at 6:30 in rehearsal hall at the Lyric. This diverse cast includes men and women ages 16 and older. Those auditioning for a principal or supporting role will be asked to sing a 60 second portion of a song from the show. Music will be provided for the those auditioning for the chorus. Two children’s roles will be cast in January.
