Jack Worthing invents a brother, Earnest, whom he uses as an excuse to leave his dull country life behind to visit Gwendolyn. Algy Montcrieff decides to take the same name when he visits Cecily at Worthing’s country manor. Things start to go awry when all end up together and their deceptions are discovered.
