Gone with the Wind Party

We cannot display this gallery\n\nSeptember 6, malady buy 2012\n\nMovie-lovers and theatre lovers alike were delighted by the Gone with the Wind party and screening on Thursday September 6.   The festivities began at 5:00 with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails in the lobby of the Lyric.   Party-goers made merry together, ed help sharing their favorite  Gone With the Wind screen moments and playing Gone with the Wind trivia games .  Vocal entertainment was provided by Suzanne Oakley, accompanied by Carean Dendy.   The cast and crew of Tupelo Community Theatre’s upcoming production of Moonlight and Magnolias were the honored guests of the evening.  They shared their experiences stepping into the shoes of  Gone with the Wind producer David Selznick, director Victor Fleming, and screenwriter Ben Hecht.   John Carroll, as a dramatic Fleming, shared his chagrin at being pulled from Wizard of Oz to resurrect the sinking Gone with the Wind production.  Answering a question from the audience, Jonathan Martin, the play’s director, confirmed that  Moonlight and Magnolias, which chronicles the events surrounding the script re-write for Gone with the Wind, is indeed based in fact.\n\nAt 7:00, it was lights down and curtain up for the screening of Gone with the Wind.  The enthusiastic audience cheered as the overture swelled and the title flashed across the screen.\n\nJoin us for Moonlight and Magnolias on September 27, 28, and 29.
