Noises Off

Tupelo Community Theatre will present the comedy Noises Off by Michael Frayn March 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee on March 11 at 2 p.m at the Lyric Theatre. Often called the funniest farce ever written, Noises Off presents a manic menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing’s On. Winner of multiple awards, the New York Times praised it, saying it is “the most dexterously realized comedy ever about putting on a comedy. A spectacularly funny, peerless backstage farce, this dizzy, well-known romp is a festival of delirium.” Tickets are $18 for adults and $6 for students and go on sale to the public on Monday, February 27th at Noon by call 844-1935.

Auditions for Noises Off

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Noises Off by Michael Frayn on Sunday at 2 p.m., and Monday, November 21, at 7 p.m., in the rehearsal hall of the Lyric Theatre. Winner of the 1982 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Play and nominated for both the Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for Best Play in 1984, Noises Off has been called the funniest farce ever written. The play presents a manic menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing’s On. As the play deals with slamming doors, on- and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring, all the action figures into the plot of this hilarious, classically comic play. The cast calls for adult men and women of all ages who are capable of physical comedy. No advance preparation is necessary.

Susan and Otis Tims will direct and production dates are March 9-11. For more information email [email protected] or call TCT at 844-1935.
