The Addams Family Auditions

“They’re creepy and they’re kooky… mysterious and spooky… they’re all together ooky… THE ADDAMS FAMILY!” 

Tupelo Community Theatre presents The Addams Family – A New Musical Comedy April 25-27, 2019! 

It’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. If that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.

Auditions for TCT’s production of The Addams Family are Monday, February 11, and Tuesday, February 12, at 6:00pm each evening in the rehearsal hall of the Lyric. The following casting opportunities are available:


MALE ROLES:
GOMEZ ADDAMS (18 & up to audition) – stage age 40+, showman, passionate, Spanish accent
UNCLE FESTER (18 & up to audition) – stage age 50+, drives the story as narrator, funny, bald
LURCH (18 & up to audition) – stage age 40+, tall, expressive facials, creepy grunts/groans/growls 
MAL BEINEKE (18 & up to audition) – stage age 40+, nervous, sarcastic, uptight
LUCAS BEINEKE (18 & up to audition) – stage age 18-24, handsome, earnest, endearing
PUGSLEY ADDAMS (12 & up to audition) – stage age 12-16, mischievous, odd, pesky

FEMALE ROLES:
MORTICIA ADDAMS (18 & up to audition) – stage age 40+, regal, passionate, deadpan
GRANDMA (18 & up to audition) – stage age 60+, funny, quirky, absent-minded
ALICE BEINEKE (18 & up to audition) – stage age 40+, nervous, effusive, sweet
WEDNESDAY ADDAMS (16 & up to audition) – stage age 18-24, beautiful, intense, conflicted

THE ADDAMS ANCESTORS:
– Ten to twenty strong CHORAL SINGERS, male (12 & up) & female (16 & up)
– Five to ten strong MODERN/LYRICAL DANCERS, male (12 & up) & female (16 & up)

REQUIRED AUDITION MATERIAL:
– Acting, solo singing, and choreography skills are required at auditions for all NAMED ROLES. Please note that the roles of GOMEZ and MORTICIA require more advanced partner dancing. 
– Choral singing ONLY is required at auditions for THE ADDAMS ANCESTORS SINGERS.
– Choreography ONLY is required at auditions for THE ADDAMS ANCESTORS DANCERS.
– Research is recommended, but no advance preparation is required. {title of show} Auditions

TCT will hold auditions for {title of show} December 10 and 11 at 6 p.m. at Tupelo Off Broadway, 213 E. Franklin Street. Parts are available for women and men, ages 18 -35 and all actors must be able to sing. The one-act musical, with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and a book by Hunter Bell chronicles the struggles of an author and composer/lyricist and their two actress friends during the creative period, along with subsequent events leading up to the show’s production. The writer and stars of the show, as well as its director, all won Obie Awards for their work on the off-Broadway production, and the author was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical. Production dates are February 14-16, 2019. Those auditioning should bring their own recorded music if singing something other than from {title of show}. If auditioning with a song from the show TCT will have that accompaniment track available. Haley Agnew Johnson and John McCustion will direct.

Auditions for The Glitter Girls

TCT will hold auditions for The Glitter Girls November 18 at 2:00 pm and November 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Tupelo Off Broadway, 213 E. Franklin Street. Parts are available for seven women and three men, ages 20-70+.

Written by Mississippi native Mark Dunn, this southern comedy takes us through a specially called meeting of a north Georgia social club called “The Glitter Girls.” The club’s richest member, Trudy Tromaine (who is at death’s door) convenes the meeting to express her wishes to bequeath some of her millions to one lucky “Sister of the Gleam and Sparkle.”

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Audiitions

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold audition for The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe, the C.S. Lewis’ classic set in the land of Narnia, September 30h at 5 p.m. and October 1st at 6 p.m. at the TCT Off Broadway, 213 East Franklin Street. The play faithfully recreates the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia. The large cast includes adults and children 8 years of age and older. No advance preparation is needed. Production dates are December 6-8 and education day performances will be scheduled as well. TCT Haunted Theatre Auditions

Have you ever wanted to get involved with one of TCT’s most popular seasonal events? You know you have! Seriously, it takes many, many volunteers to stage the Haunted Theatre every year. In order to volunteer, you must be at least 14 years of age (adult volunteers are especially encouraged to step forward!). You must also attend one of two mandatory audition/workshops led by Haunted Theatre Director Steve Miller, Dave Dawson and special guest instructor Todd Barnett on either September 8th or September 15th at 10:00 a.m. at the Lyric. The workshop should last no longer than 1.5 hours and will include acting, makeup, set design and some other spooky stuff. Come and audition. Be part of the FUN! Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf Auditions

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf by Edward Albee September 20th at 6 p.m. at 213 East Franklin Street. Winner of the 1963 Tony Award for Best Play, the Broadway production of this play was a shattering and memorable experience and proclaimed the author as a major American playwright. The play has been described as a scorching, scalding, revealing and completely engrossing drama and a brilliant piece of writing. The story involves a professor at a small college and his wife who have returned home drunk from a party. The wife announces that she has invited a young couple, an opportunistic new professor at the college and his shatteringly naïve new bride, to stop by and the charade begins when they arrive. The cast includes 2 men and 2 women at least 21 years old. Production dates are November 15-17 at TCT Off Broadway and Tom Booth will direct. Auditions for The Marvelous Wonderettes

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for the smash off-Broadway hit The Marvelous Wonderettes, created by Roger Bean, June 10th at 2 pm. and June 11 at 6 p.m. in the rehearsal hall of the Lyric Theatre. The musical takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! Later the Wonderettes reunite to take the stage and perform at their ten-year reunion. Featuring over 30 classic ’50s and ’60s hits, The Marvelous Wonderettes will keep you smiling in this must-take musical trip down memory lane! The cast is made up of adult women ages 18-40 and must be able to sing. No advance preparation is necessary. Christi Houin will direct, with David East as musical director.
