TCT Haunted Theatre Auditions

Have you ever wanted to get involved with one of TCT’s most popular seasonal events? You know you have! Seriously, it takes many, many volunteers to stage the Haunted Theatre every year. In order to volunteer, you must be at least 14 years of age (adult volunteers are especially encouraged to step forward!). You must also attend one of two mandatory audition/workshops led by Haunted Theatre Director Steve Miller, Dave Dawson and special guest instructor Todd Barnett on either September 8th or September 15th at 10:00 a.m. at the Lyric. The workshop should last no longer than 1.5 hours and will include acting, makeup, set design and some other spooky stuff. Come and audition. Be part of the FUN! The Marvelous Wonderettes

Tupelo Community Theatre will present its season opening production of The Marvelous Wonderettes at the Lyric Theatre. When called upon to perform at their senior prom as a last minute replacement, Springfield High Songleaders Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy, rally together to entertain their classmates in four-part harmony. The show uses pop songs from the 1950s and 1960s as a vehicle to tell its story and includes favorites like Mr. Sandman, Heatwave, Lollipop, It’s In His Kiss, You Don’t Own Me, Dream Lover, It’s My Party, Son of a Preacher Man, Leader of the Pack and Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight. The hit musical comedy continues to play Off Broadway in New York City. The production will be August 23-25 at 7:30 p.m. with a Saturday matinee on August 25th at 2 p.m. TCT season wildcard members may claim their tickets any time. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students and younger and will go on sale to the public at Noon on August 6th by calling the TCT box office at 844-1935.

Auditions for The Marvelous Wonderettes

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for the smash off-Broadway hit The Marvelous Wonderettes, created by Roger Bean, June 10th at 2 pm. and June 11 at 6 p.m. in the rehearsal hall of the Lyric Theatre. The musical takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! Later the Wonderettes reunite to take the stage and perform at their ten-year reunion. Featuring over 30 classic ’50s and ’60s hits, The Marvelous Wonderettes will keep you smiling in this must-take musical trip down memory lane! The cast is made up of adult women ages 18-40 and must be able to sing. No advance preparation is necessary. Christi Houin will direct, with David East as musical director. Auditions for Angel Street

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Angel Street by Patrick Hamilton on April 9 and 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the rehearsal hall of the Lyric Theatre. Angel Street tells the story of the Manninghams, who live on Angel Street in 19th century London. As the curtain rises, all appears to be the essence of Victorian tranquility but their lives are not what they seem. The show calls for 2 men who are 30 and older and 3 women who are 20 and older. No advance preparation is needed but a copy of the script may be checked out. A British accent is preferred. Debby Gibbs will direct and production dates are June 14-16 at TCT Off Broadway. Auditions for Disney’s Lion King Jr

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for its summer youth production of Disney’s The Lion King JR. at the Lyric Theatre on April 30 at 6:30 for third grade through fifth and May 1 at 6:30 p.m. from sixth through ninth grade. Everyone will be required to sing and read from the script but no advance preparation is needed. Disney’s The Lion King brings the African savannah to life on stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle… and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale. Auditions for Broadway Beat

TCT Off Broadway will hold auditions for Broadway Beat on February 26 and 27 at 5:30 p.m. at 213 East Franklin Street.

The show includes musical highlights from over a century of song and dance including Hairspray, The Music Man, The King and I, Wicked, Rent and Grease, and a medley of favorites from George M. Cohan! No advanced preparation is needed but students should be 4th grade through high school.

Auditions for Hello, Dolly!

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Hello, Dolly!, music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and book by Michael Stewart, on January 29th and 30th at 6 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre. The blockbuster Broadway hit, bursts with humor, romance, high-energy dancing, and some of the greatest songs in musical theater history. The romantic and comic exploits of Dolly Gallagher-Levi, turn-of-the-century matchmaker and “woman who arranges things,” are certain to thrill and entertain audiences again and again. The show’s memorable songs include “Before the Parade Passes By,” “Hello, Dolly!,” and “It Only Takes a Moment.” The play has numerous adult roles for men and women of all ages. Those auditioning must be at least 10th grade. Everyone will be taught a portion of a song from the show and read from the script. No advanced preparation is required but you may pick up music for auditions any time after Noon on January 8th.
