Auditions for The Odd Couple-Female Version

 Tupelo Community Theatre Off Broadway will hold auditions
for The Odd Couple, Female Version by Neil Simon
on May 20 and 21 at 6:30 p.m. at 213 East Franklin Street.
In Neil Simon’s hilarious contemporary comic classic,
Florence Unger and Olive Madison are at it again. Instead of
the poker party that begins the original version, Ms. Madison
has invited the girls over for an evening of Trivial Pursuit.
The Pidgeon sisters have been replaced by the two Constanzuela
brothers. But the hilarity remains the same.
Roles are available for two men and six women, 25 years
of age and older. No advance preparation is needed.

Mamma Mia auditions

Auditions for Mamma Mia will be announced soon.  Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for the long running Broadway musical Mamma Mia,  with music and lyrics by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson and book by Catherine Johnson, on Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23 at 6 p.m. in the rehearsal hall of the Lyric Theatre.

Over 60 million people worldwide have fallen in love with the characters, the story and the music that make Mamma Mia! the ultimate feel-good show.  The musical  includes the  Abba songs Honey, Honey, Dancing Queen, The Name Of The Game, Money, Money, Money, SOS, Knowing Me, Knowing You,  Take A Chance On Me, I Have A Dream and a dozen more.

Mamma Mia is an adult production and is open to men and women who can sing and dance.  Those auditioning must be at least a sophomore in high school in fall of 2019.  No advance preparation is needed, music from the show will be taught during the auditions.  Those auditioning should be prepared to sing in groups and solo and a dance audition may be required.   Tom Booth will direct with Debra Robison as musical director and production dates for the show are August 22-24, 2019.  More  detailed information about cast posted at www.tct.ms or email the director at 1tct@bellsouth.net.

Auditions for The True Story of the Three Little Pigs

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Robert Kauzlaric, Paul Gilvary, and William Rush on March 25th and 26th  at 6 p.m. at TCT Off Broadway 213 East Franklin Street.  Every story has two sides and when the Big, Bad Wolf takes the stand in Piggsylvania’s Trial of the Century, he finally gets his say. This youth cast includes anyone 11 to 14 years old and everyone auditioning should be able to sing but no advance preparation required.  Marley Maharrey will direct.  Production dates for the show are May 16-18.  For more information contact the director at msmaharrey@gmail.com or call the TCT office at 662-844-1935.

Do you have a child who wants to learn how to be a theatre “techie”? Does he or she ever wonder how shows create neat lighting effects, colorful costumes, and realistic props? If your child is between the ages of 11-14 and wants to learn how to work backstage at a community production, contact msmaharrey@gmail.com before March 25th. Please include the following: child’s age, child’s grade, which he/she is interested in (lighting/sound, costumes, or props). Those wanting to work in costumes must have some sewing experience. Children selected will be working with a crew member on the upcoming TCTOB production The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.

A Time to Kill

Tupelo Community Theatre will present A Time To Kill, adapted for the stage by Rupert Holmes, March 7-9 at 7:30 p.m. and March 9 at 2 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre.  This riveting drama tells the story of Carl Lee Hailey, who shoots two men in the very courthouse where he now stands trial.  Defense attorney Jake Brigance sees Hailey’s act of vengeance against the racist men’s attack on his daughter as a desperate bid for justice and he’s willing to risk everything to defend his client’s life. As the trial heats up, the community is torn apart in this gripping adaptation of Mississippi native John Grisham’s best-selling novel about race, crime, and family in small-town America.  The play is rated R for adult language and incendiary dialogue about race that some patrons may find offensive.  Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and go on sale at Noon on February 25 by calling the TCT box office at 844-1935.

Tupelo Community Theatre will present {title of show} with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and book by Hunter Bell on February 14-16 at 7:30 p.m. at TCT Off Broadway 213 East Franklin Street.   The show chronicles its own creation as an entry in the New York Musical Theatre Festival, and follows the struggles of the author and composer/lyricist and their two actress friends during the initial brief (three-week) creative period, along with subsequent events leading up to the show’s production.  The show includes language some patrons may find offensive.  Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students and younger and may be purchased by calling the TCT box office Noon-4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 844-1935.

Tupelo Community Theatre presents The Addams Family – A New Musical Comedy April 25-27, 2019! 

It’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. If that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.

Auditions for TCT’s production of The Addams Family are Monday, February 11, and Tuesday, February 12, at 6:00pm each evening in the rehearsal hall of the Lyric. The following casting opportunities are available:

REQUIRED AUDITION MATERIAL:
– Acting, solo singing, and choreography skills are required at auditions for all NAMED ROLES. Please note that the roles of GOMEZ and MORTICIA require more advanced partner dancing. 
– Choral singing ONLY is required at auditions for THE ADDAMS ANCESTORS SINGERS.
– Choreography ONLY is required at auditions for THE ADDAMS ANCESTORS DANCERS.
– Research is recommended, but no advance preparation is required. {title of show} Auditions

TCT will hold auditions for {title of show} December 10 and 11 at 6 p.m. at Tupelo Off Broadway, 213 E. Franklin Street. Parts are available for women and men, ages 18 -35 and all actors must be able to sing. The one-act musical, with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and a book by Hunter Bell chronicles the struggles of an author and composer/lyricist and their two actress friends during the creative period, along with subsequent events leading up to the show’s production. The writer and stars of the show, as well as its director, all won Obie Awards for their work on the off-Broadway production, and the author was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical. Production dates are February 14-16, 2019. Those auditioning should bring their own recorded music if singing something other than from {title of show}. If auditioning with a song from the show TCT will have that accompaniment track available. Haley Agnew Johnson and John McCustion will direct.
