Tupelo Community Theatre will present the comedy Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike, by Christopher Durang, on May 19th, 20th and 21st at 7:30 PM at TCT Off Broadway, 213 East Franklin Street.

The story revolves around the relationships of three middle-aged single siblings, two of whom live together, and takes place during a visit by the third, Masha, who supports them. And Masha brings along a much younger guest Spike!

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. The play contains adult language and situations.

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold an additional audition for Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang March 31st at 7 p.m. at TCT Off Broadway, 213 East Franklin.

This winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play deals with middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia, who share their deceased parents’ home in Bucks County, PA. The two bicker and complain about the circumstances of their lives when their movie-star sister, Masha, swoops in with her new boy toy, Spike. Old resentments flare up, eventually leading to threats to sell the house. Also on the scene are sassy maid Cassandra, who can predict the future, and a lovely young aspiring actress named Nina, whose prettiness worries the imperious Masha. The siblings (1 man and 2 women) should be able to play characters between 40 and 65 years of age. Cassandra can be any age. Spike’s character is in his 20’s or 30’s and must feel comfortable on stage in a speedo swim suit. Nina’s character is in her 20’s or 30’s as well.

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang as soon as possible. This winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play deals with middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia, who share their deceased parents’ home in Bucks County, PA. Once, the TCT 2022-23 season opening show, received eleven Tony Award nominations, winning eight including Best Musical. From the very first note, Once draws you in and never lets go. This emotionally captivating musical is the only show to have music that won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, an Olivier Award and a Tony Award. On the streets of Dublin, an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant are drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, an unexpected friendship and collaboration quickly evolves into a powerful but complicated love story, underscored by emotionally charged music. Those auditioning should be adults aged 21 or older and everyone must sing. Some characters also play instruments. The cast includes an 8-10 year old girl.
