TCT Youth Production Auditions

NOTE-THE DIRECTOR IS STILL LOOKING FOR ACTORS FOR THIS CHOW.

TCT Off Broadway will hold auditions for its youth production of On the Radio on Monday, February 20th and Tuesday, February 21st at 5:30 p.m. in the rehearsal hall of the Lyric Theatre. From the Depression and WWII to Elvis, the Beatles and disco, the radio is where America hears the songs that become the soundtracks of their lives. This musical features 6 “top hits” with short scenes for boys and girls in grades 4th-8th. Students will work on a song from the play as a group as part of the audition. TCT Off Broadway New Year’s Eve Celebration

TCT Off Broadway will present its first Red Carpet Masquerade on December 31 at 9:00 p.m. at 213 East Franklin in Tupelo. Tickets are $20, which will include one free drink and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. This event is open to adults 21 and older. The evening will offer a red car-pet with a “selfie station”, a trivia competition, and music. For more information or to purchase tickets call the TCT office at 844-1935.

Auditions for Noises Off

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Noises Off by Michael Frayn on Sunday at 2 p.m., and Monday, November 21, at 7 p.m., in the rehearsal hall of the Lyric Theatre. Winner of the 1982 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Play and nominated for both the Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for Best Play in 1984, Noises Off has been called the funniest farce ever written. The play presents a manic menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing’s On. As the play deals with slamming doors, on- and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring, all the action figures into the plot of this hilarious, classically comic play. The cast calls for adult men and women of all ages who are capable of physical comedy. No advance preparation is necessary.

Auditions for Cicada

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Cicada, by award winning Tupelo native Jerre Dye, on Monday, Oct 24 and Tuesday, Oct 25 at 6 p.m. in the Lyric Rehearsal Hall. The Chicago Tribune’s review of Cicada said “Dye’s voice is most definitely authentic and his understanding of trauma and loss palpable.” Chicago Theatre Review described the play as “a poetic southern drama riding over waves of angst and anger, laced with moments of unexpected humor. The play takes place in rural Mississippi in July 1974 where in Lily’s isolation, memories become real moving her backward and forward in time. The cast of 9 calls for actors who can play a 10 year old girl and a 17 year old boy, as well as adult men and women of all ages. Parents should be aware the play does contain a limited amount of language some may find offensive. No advance prep is needed and Tom Booth will direct. Production dates are January 26-28. TCT Off Broadway will hold auditions for Stephen Sondheim’s Company Sunday August 21st @ 2:00 pm and Monday August 22nd @ 6:30 pm at 213 East Franklin Street. From musical theatre’s most renowned composer, prostate Company is largely regarded as a trailblazer and the winner of seven Tony Awards On the night of his 35th birthday, troche confirmed bachelor, Robert, contemplates his unmarried state. Over the course of a series of dinners, drinks and even a wedding, his explain the pros and cons of taking on a spouse.\n\nThe cast calls for 6 men and 8 women 18 years of age or older. Everyone must sing but no advance preparation is needed.\n\nBen Eakes will direct and production dates are November 10-12, 2016.
