Auditions for Cicada

Tupelo Community Theatre will hold auditions for Cicada, by award winning Tupelo native Jerre Dye, on Monday, Oct 24 and Tuesday, Oct 25 at 6 p.m. in the Lyric Rehearsal Hall. The Chicago Tribune’s review of Cicada said “Dye’s voice is most definitely authentic and his understanding of trauma and loss palpable.” Chicago Theatre Review described the play as “a poetic southern drama riding over waves of angst and anger, laced with moments of unexpected humor. The play takes place in rural Mississippi in July 1974 where in Lily’s isolation, memories become real moving her backward and forward in time. The cast of 9 calls for actors who can play a 10 year old girl and a 17 year old boy, as well as adult men and women of all ages. Parents should be aware the play does contain a limited amount of language some may find offensive. No advance prep is needed and Tom Booth will direct. Production dates are January 26-28.
